A perfect and practical mix of the varied aspects of French culture and language.
Before coming to France, my education (second-level and University-level) in French had been rather academic and so although I had a high level of grammar and written comprehension and expression, I had a poor understanding of the subtleties of French (eg familiar/informal language v. formal).
The teachers taught us very effectively, mixing grammar; the French and Nantaise culture; speaking/listening; writing/reading and all while using a variety of teaching methods (including games, videos and up-to-date resources). The primary goal was an ability to use the language daily (in Uni, doing the groceries, with friends, on Facebook) and not just the grammar and formal, literary and academic French I was used to.
What I noticed most was their ability to simply and easily describe aspects of grammar that I found really difficult to understand (e.g. when DU / DE LA / DES change to DE, the differences of the future simple / near future, or the applications of the subjunctive)
Finally, the informal environment and the friendliness of the teachers supported my learning, my willingness to interact and ultimately my improvement. I have much more self-confidence, and I am a much more competent user of French thanks to the classes. I'm still far from native-level but I'm getting there a lot quicker following this course!
